I'm Miss McAleavy and I am the English Lead at Wargrave.

"There can be no more important subject than English in the school curriculum. English is a pre-eminent world language, it is at the heart of our culture and it is the language medium in which most of our pupils think and communicate. Literacy skills are also crucial to pupils' learning in other subjects across the curriculum." - Ofsted, 2011.

At Wargrave, we recognise the importance of a strong English curriculum which enables children to develop the skills and knowledge to harness other learning opportunities across the curriculum and beyond. We aim to promote a love of reading, a sophisticated, growing skillset for writing and an enthusiasm for speaking and listening.
