The subject leaders for mathematics at Wargrave are Miss Chesworth and Mrs Sexton. 

Shakuntala Devi once said, “Without mathematics, there’s nothing you can do. Everything around you is mathematics. Everything around you is numbers”, which is why we want our children to thoroughly enjoy their maths lessons, to cherish the importance of exploration and embrace mathematical problems with a positive and resilient attitude.

We plan for our children to develop the fundamentals of mathematics and expand their knowledge into deeper thinking while nurturing a desire to problem solve from early years to Year 6 and beyond. To ensure this, we have created a curriculum that lends itself to completing ‘real life’ problems while following the Maths No Problem sequence of learning and using the accompanying resources.

We also encourage challenge and curiosity within our lessons, which allows children to be leaders of their own learning and  builds upon mathematical fluency and depth.
